WILFRED KOECH SUCCESS STORY
Wilfred Koech is one of the young men in the Cheplaskei table banking initiative under the Sustainable Agricultural Practices intervention being implemented by EPTF. After receiving training on entrepreneurship, Sustainable Agricultural Practices, and Life Skills, Koech changed his means of earning a living. Initially, Koech would brew local liquor locally called chang’aa.

In addition to this, Koech was hostile and rude to both locals and non-locals who visited his homestead. He also had been leading a table banking group since 2018 but he would not allow anyone to monitor its finances. As a result, members of the group confronted and wanted to eject him from the table banking initiative. It is at this point that Koech decided to reform and change his attitude. He stopped brewing liquor and opened a retail shop (KAPKOECH SHOP) in his compound.

Koech wholeheartedly embraced, joined, and now leads projects run by the group. He currently leads a tree nursery project for the group as the chairperson. This project has earned the group Ksh.100,000/-. He actively participates in the routine management of poultry, beekeeping, and market gardening initiatives in the region.
