TRAINING

The Enterprise Development Program (EDP) addresses unemployment and poverty by supporting the creation and expansion of business enterprises. Our training seeks to challenge existing mind-sets of many young people who believe that formal employment is the only way to generate income. At the end of the training, many young people become job creators as opposed to job seekers.

Over the years, we have accumulated expertise evidenced by a proven entrepreneurship curriculum and a database of qualified trainers and consultants. EPTFs entrepreneurship training has reached over one thousand people with traceable impact. Our entrepreneurship training programs are conducted annually in Nairobi, Machakos, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Eldoret with plans to expand to other counties.

Our training model is founded on:-

  • Integrated training covering both entrepreneurs and technical skills
  • Business mentoring and follow-up
  • A practical approach through project visits, work based activities and facilitation by practicing business people and professionals
  • Business networking forums
  • Promotion of ethical business practices through the use of Biblical approaches

 Requirements

Our requirements vary depending on the target group

a) Youth Enterprise Development Program (YEDP)

  • Aged between 18-35 years
  • Must be high school graduate (at least form four)
  • Have a creative business or business idea
  • Must commit to the training for full duration
  • Must have basic computer skills

b) Tailor Made Program

These programs are tailored to suit special groups such as:-

  • Organized community groups (women, church based groups, retirees, etc)
  • Vulnerable groups (physically disabled, HIV/AIDS affected, self-help groups, etc)
  • Organizations and institutions that are interested in setting up entrepreneurship program
  • High business clubs that need to sharpen their skills

c) Course Duration

  • 30 hours (equivalent to 5 working days 8-4pm)
  • Training time-table depends of the group
