THE FAMOUS UJI WA MUGAGITO AND THE SWEDES

Posted: October 30, 2017

On Tuesday, 24th October 2017, The Krister Jallen group of visitors spent their second day visiting EPTF entrepreneurs. The group of 17 was divided into 4 sub – groups with each sub-group visiting entrepreneurs located in Dandora, Ruai , Ngong Road and Eastleigh – Nairobi, Kenya.

The purpose was to help the visitors understand what EPTF does. What stood out as a  common denominator recapped by the visitors was the first impressions as they interacted with the entrepreneurs.

Their zeal, drive and will to start and sustain their businesses stood out.  But, of most importance is the entrepreneurs’ kind heart and willingness to mentor others (young women and men) to be self reliant and ultimately transform communities, the very essence of EPTF’s vision.

For the visitors, EPTF’s work was some kind of social entrepreneurship and sustainability. They described the entrepreneurs and people in Kenya as innovative and capable of using almost “nothing” to make something.

The highlight of the visit came from one of the sub-group who had a chance to sample a Kenyan delicacy known as “Uji wa Mugagito” (Fermented Porridge). So delicious it was that the group had a second serving and brown chapatis to accompany with!
