School profits to go to the needy

Schools are located within communities and have in the past been used as grounds to advance new ideologies. For EPTF, our choice of working with Dandora Secondary School was informed by our vision of empowered entrepreneurs transforming communities. With a population of about 900 students and staff, Dandora Secondary School is located in a slum area and borders the largest dump site in Nairobi.

Slum areas are characterized by school drop outs and unwanted pregnancies which lead to back street abortion in many cases. There is also a sense of hopelessness as many families live below a dollar-a-day. With the rising costs of living, many parents look out for their own well-being and that of their families and hardly care about their neighbors. Grace Owendi through Tuamushane Tuinane has decided to break the cycle and has gone a little further to love her neighbors.
