Ann has been running the Happy Day Academy for the last 5 years.A trained Early Childhood Development teacher with several years of experience both in Nairobi and in Kisumu, Ann started the academy with a touch of difference in bringing excellence in an area that was unaccustomed to this.
The school currently has about 100 pupils from the neighborhood. As plans for expansion, she intends to start a day care centre in the same premises. This will meet both a need in the community for working mothers and also serve as a great business opportunity. She has sponsored 3 needy children in her school as a way of giving back to the community.
She has also been embraced by the community which supplies her with firewood for the school. Ann is driven by the need to provide quality education and not just making profits. At EPTF we emphasize on the need to do business in ways that honour ethical values. The 3Ps of sustainability- People, Planet & Profits– are learned during the CSR session.
Ann had an opportunity to attend the Kisumu training in August 2010.
